As temperature increases, what happens to the resistance of a thermistor?

Thermistors change resistance with temperature. For the common NTC type, as temperature rises, more charge carriers are available and the material conducts better, so its resistance falls. There is another kind called PTC that does the opposite, but the typical thermistor used in circuits decreases in resistance when heated.
